HE/THEY — OWNER/CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Hey, I’m Jaime (sze-EYE-meh), co-founder of The Hinterlands. This practice has enabled me to indulge my varied interests—culture & identity consultant, psychedelic and trauma therapist, and fiber artist. I have spent my life exploring what it means to heal, connect, and build community. My journey began in Waterbury, CT, where I learned to advocate for myself and others early on. At 16, I was organizing with Food Not Bombs!, staging school protests, and embracing my inner black sheep.

I spent time as a classical actress and singer, which gave me valuable insights into the worlds of artists, performers, and gig workers. I later thought I could make a difference as a social worker, but after three years in foster care, I realized I wasn’t suited for the state system. I still wanted to help families navigate carceral systems, but knew I needed a shift.

That shift led me to Waldorf education. Drawn to its idealism and sense of community, I found joy in teaching, especially handwork and practical arts. But I also saw the scars of spiritual abuse, trauma from mass violence (I taught in Newtown, CT, during the Sandy Hook tragedy), and the deep wounds caused by oppressive educational systems. This inspired me to create the “Waldorf on Fire” initiative, a space for those harmed by Waldorf schools, and I’ve had the honor of facilitating dialogue with thousands of people globally in support of this mission.

I then pivoted to become an entertainment social worker, supporting artists across the country during COVID-19, natural disasters, and personal challenges. The connections I made with artists led me to open my private practice, and I haven’t looked back.

During my own healing journey, I discovered the transformative power of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, which has profoundly shaped my work. I’ve had the privilege of serving as a lecturer, facilitator, and mentor for several psychedelic training institutes. I remain committed to deepening this work, especially for neurodiverse, disabled, Queer, and Global Majority communities.

Everything I’ve done and learned has shaped the work I do now. I’m honored to collaborate with the community at The Hinterlands, where we continue to learn, heal, and grow. I’m dedicated to everyday living as a practical art. I am proudly Kriol, transgender, autistic, and dynamically disabled. My mission is to support inner development for collective liberation.
